The feature is already in the testing phase in Europe. As a result, “people who use this messaging application will be able to message others who prefer to use Telegram or Signal. But the most transformative aspect of this change is that everything can be done without leaving the application.”

Regarding the Digital Markets Act, it “requires large technology companies to open their services so they are compatible with each other. This aims to break down the digital walls that separate one app from another.”

Testing of the beta versions shows that users will be able to send messages, photos, videos, voice notes, and documents without switching apps. “However, some features, such as custom stickers or disappearing messages, may not be available at first.”

Meta has confirmed that users will have the option to select who can contact them from other applications. “There will be several options: allow messages from everyone, only from contacts, or block access altogether. This aims to prevent spam or unwanted messages from external platforms.”

End-to-end encryption will remain the primary tool for protecting the privacy of conversations so that no one, not even WhatsApp, can read users’ messages.

Among the specifications of the new feature is the option to choose whether they prefer to receive only WhatsApp messages in their inbox or messages from other applications together. In addition, it includes a “simple onboarding process where users can learn more about third-party chats and activate the feature. Options will include choosing which third-party apps they want to receive messages from and how they would like to manage their inbox,” as Meta published on its blog.

The feature is available in version 2.24.4.25 for some Android beta users, and is expected to roll out to more users in the coming weeks. The feature will allow users to prevent others from taking screenshots of their profile photos, which could prevent identity theft or harassment.

The aforementioned capture blocking function is added to other privacy measures

To activate the feature, users will need to go to WhatsApp privacy settings and select the option to block screenshots of profile photos. This way, when someone tries to take a screenshot of a profile photo, they will see a warning message preventing them from doing so.

The function of blocking screenshots of profile photos joins other privacy measures that WhatsApp has recently implemented, such as disappearing mode, which allows you to send messages that are automatically deleted after a while, or two-way verification steps, which reinforces the security of the account.

The instant messaging platform warned about the dangers that the online security bill that the British Government is studying to apply could cause, due to the fact that it gives rise to forcing technology companies to break end-to-end encryption in services of private messaging.

This was stated by the person in charge of WhatsApp in Meta, Will Cathcart, through a post on the platform’s blog, which is also signed by the top executives of other instant messaging platforms such as Signal, Wire or Viber, among others.

According to WhatsApp, the users of these instant messaging applications, both individuals and companies, and even governments, face threats on a daily basis such as online scams, fraud or data theft through infections or ‘malware’ that is transferred through messages. To do this, malicious actors “regularly” challenge the security of messaging application infrastructures.

In this framework, the messaging platform ensures that end-to-end encryption is “one of the strongest possible defenses against these threats” and that, therefore, it should be protected and maintained at all times.

However, the company criticizes that the current wording of the law can be interpreted to eliminate encryption, causing institutions such as the UK communication regulator (OFCOM) to “force” the scanning of private messages “compromising the privacy of all users” and creating an “unprecedented” threat to the security of UK citizens and those they communicate with around the world.

The company has been working on conversation migration tools for years and already allows platform chats to be transferred between different operating systems, that is, from Android devices to iPhones, and vice versa.

Until now, WhatsApp allows you to transfer account information, profile photo, individual and group chats, chat history, media files, and settings. This indicates that this feature does not yet support call history and display name in the service.

At the beginning of January, specialized portals announced that Meta, owned by the platform, was working on a way to transfer a chat to a new Android device through the Google Drive hosting service.

This feature was part of the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.23.1.25 Now, this same portal has warned in version 2.23.2.6 of a new update to this feature under development indicating that this Google service is not necessary for chat migration.

As is known, the telephone number works as a means of identification for the Telegram user. The new update seeks to “anonymize” the experience. However, it is necessary to point out that this novelty is paid and is available in version 9.2 of Telegram.

According to the publication on the Xataka Android portal, the objective is “the decentralization of blockchains: instead of telephone numbers and cards delivered by telecommunications companies, Telegram advances with records through anonymous numbers associated with the blockchain.”

Telegram worked on creating a system of anonymous numbers, “which operate through its Fragment platform and are only functional within its environment.” The user must buy a number on the blockchain, replacing their SIM card from any cell phone operator.

The innovation launched by Telegram is based on the TON network and prices vary depending on the token. For example, about 9 TON can currently represent more than 16 dollars.

The instant messaging platform WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow its iOS users to share voice notes in status updates.

Until now, the messaging network was already working on this function for the Android system, where it has been seen in the 2.22.21.5 update of the beta version, but now it is also being launched for the iOS beta version.

This new function will make it possible to share a voice note of up to 30 seconds in users’ status updates, through the composer that allows text uploads. As it appears in chats, on the right side of the text bar there will be a microphone button through which the voice note can be recorded and shared.

These status updates with voice notes will only be shared with the people the user chooses within the privacy settings, just like the rest, videos, photos or text. And they will be end-to-end encrypted.

WhatsApp’s statuses are a publication format that allows you to share text, photos, videos, GIFs and, soon, voice notes, which disappear 24 hours after they have been uploaded to the platform. In addition, they have their own space, with a tab located in the center of the main interface.

However, this new function is under development, so it is expected that in the future it will be released to beta users to test it and find out how it will be presented specifically. Likewise, this update joins another series of improvements such as the preview of the shared links in the states, which allows you a preview of said links.

The tech company has made improvements in recent weeks to make it easier to start and identify a chat with oneself in the Android beta, where the feature was brand new.

However, it already existed for iOS, or at least until the tests for the multi-device began, with which it was incompatible, which caused its disappearance months ago. But WhatsApp recovered it for the Apple system, where it is available again in the stable version.

The WhatsApp application for iOS (version 22.23.74) allows you to locate your own number in the contact list, and start a chat with yourself that appears identified with a “you” in parentheses, as reported by several portals. As indicated in Android Police, this deployment is also being carried out on Android, in version 2.22.23.77.

Now, several specialized portals have confirmed the deployment of this new feature among certain participants in the beta of the instant messaging application for Android, in versions 2.22.20.9 and 2.22.20.7.

Thanks to it, users will be able to configure from the app Settings which contacts they give access to, both at the time of their last connection and whether they are online or not.

Both permissions go hand in hand, and it is the user’s decision to create a list with those contacts to whom they want to grant this permission to further protect their privacy.

The company announced this alternative to the official application in early July, when it specified that this version would be suitable for “low-end devices and any network” through its website.

Now, Microsoft has integrated this application in the Android application store, where it is already available for download in some countries, as TechCrunch has advanced.

At the moment, only users from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Venezuela will be able to access this service.

However, the company has indicated to this medium that it will consider adding more countries with access to Microsoft Outlook Lite to this list in the future, among which Spain could be found.

The company announced at the end of 2020 that it would begin to monetize its service a year later, after the increase of active users of the platform. Thanks to this change, you can face the maintenance challenges posed by the traffic that users generate.

Now, when it is among the five most downloaded applications worldwide so far this year and with more than 700 million active users per month, the characteristics of its new payment option were announced.

Telegram Premium integrates a series of additional functions that the expert developer in reverse engineering Alessandro Paluzzi has already advanced a few days ago, who shared a screenshot with the new exclusive functions.

On the occasion of the increase in its number of users, the company indicated that it will retain its free access service and offer a new format with additional functions requested by its community since its inception. This will be paid and will “support the continuous development of Telegram”, according to their official blog.

First, the Premium Telegram subscription entails the ability to upload files up to 4 GB, compared to the 2 GB that allows the option without costs. Thanks to this service, users will be able to send videos of up to 4 hours in 1080p or “18 days of audio in high quality”.

Although the option to send large files is only possible for customers of the payment service; however, users of the free option can also download these files, even if they are not Telegram Premium customers.
