The Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, indicated this Thursday, February 29, that the government left the regulation of the delivery service in the country “without effect” and that it would be controlled by the Postal Telegraph Institute, Ipostel.

Initially, it was made official through a new ruling that authorized Ipostel to regulate said service, by requesting a registry of all companies, provision of customer and transaction data, as well as charging “1% in all orders and shipments that are completed through digital applications.”

However, through a tweet on the social network, Freddy Ñáñez announced that the measure is without effect. According to his words, the decision was made in a meeting on February 26 with the companies that offer the delivery service.

Ñáñez declared that the meeting was “cordial and fruitful” and that they will work on a joint strategy in the area.

“The decision to reject the regulation of the service was welcomed by companies in the sector,” according to the minister. In addition, he explained that they have already agreed on the creation of “work and security tables with the State, which will link the Peace Quadrants with the delivery providers.”
