The meeting between the Minister of Economy of Argentina, Sergio Massa, and the new president of the IDB, Ilan Goldfajn, was held during the Annual Meeting of the Bank’s Board of Governors that ended this Sunday in Panama.

The agency’s financing program will be aimed at key sectors of the country, such as “the program to Strengthen Agricultural Health Services and the Sustainable Management of Maritime Resources for 125 million dollars.”

The IDB allocation will help in the “control of pests that affect the country’s zoo-phytosanitary heritage” plans, in addition to strengthening the “diagnostic capacity of plant and animal health laboratories, and reinforcing research on oceanographic resources.”

Other areas that will also benefit from this financing are the Integral Management of Urban Solid Waste (MSW) program, which will receive USD 70 million, and the Support program for small wine producers, which will receive USD 40 million to promote the use of technologies and the marketing capacity of small and medium producers, among other objectives.

Massa took advantage of the event to meet with the Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Ricardo Mourinho Félix, in order to discuss the possibility of expanding the current credit line of USD 200 million.
