The Vice Minister of Marketing and Food Production, Francisco Fonseca, recently stated that Venezuela currently has a 100% food supply.

According to the official, supermarket shelves are fully stocked, offering greater availability of products and brands in the national market.

Fonseca stated: “Today we can speak of 100 % shelf supply,” the official maintained, attributing this situation to policies implemented by the National Council for Productive Economy.

The Vice Minister highlighted the effectiveness of state-run food distribution programs such as the Sovereign Field Fairs, the Mercal stores, and the network of the Venezuelan Food Production and Distribution Company (PDVAL).

According to Fonseca, the country currently has sufficient capacity to supply the domestic market with animal protein and also projects exports to neighboring countries. “Venezuela has the capacity to export all its animal protein to neighboring countries because we already have a significant market supply,” he added.

He noted that “domestic chicken production closed 2015 at 294,000 tons, while the goal for this year is to reach 330,000 tons, according to the balance of the first five months.”

Microsoft confirmed that the Microsoft 365 and Office 365 office suites for business customers will drop the Teams productivity solution in Europe, offering new lower-priced plans and Teams independently.

The European Commission announced in July the start of a formal investigation to determine whether Microsoft violated competition rules in the region by linking its Teams video conferencing and productivity application with the installation of Office software, a situation denounced by its competitor Slack in July 2020 against Brussels.

Then, Microsoft assured that it was going to work with the Commission to find a solution to the concerns that had motivated the investigation, and this Thursday it announced “proactive changes” that will affect Microsoft 365 and Office 365 for companies, in the European Economic Area and Swiss.

As of October 1st of this year, Microsoft will unlink Teams from the two office suites, and will offer this solution independently at a price of 5 euros per month or 60 euros per year. The two ‘suites’ will have a lower price.

The company qualifies in its official blog that current business customers may choose to maintain their subscription with Teams or switch to the new ‘suite’ without Teams. Instead, for small businesses and frontline workers, Microsoft will continue to offer Microsoft 365 and Office 365 with Teams, but also another offering without Teams, at a lower price.
