Both technology companies will work “combining the technology, services and platforms of both companies to continue improving the customer experience in the virtual space and develop the next generation of XR devices.”

The partnership is a reality after the meeting between Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, and his LG counterpart, William Cho, the President of Home Entertainment Company, Park Hyoung-sei.

LG would be interested in key Meta products such as the “Meta Quest 3 headphones, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and other advanced technologies, such as its large language models (LLM) and its potential for the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the devices.”

LG seeks to become a smart life solutions company by 2030. Hence, the effort to work together with Meta, as the best way to make way for the development of the extended reality (XR) market.

The American company continues with its plan to reduce its dependence on other companies producing its own components in order to have more control over the design and capabilities of its products. Among others, it seeks to produce its own WiFi, Bluetooth and modem chips to replace those of manufacturers Broadcom and Qualcomm in the future.

But it also plans to produce the screens for its devices. According to statements from sources close to the technology company collected by Bloomberg, Apple will begin to implement its own screens in the brand’s high-end watches by the end of next year 2024.

After that, the company intends to bring its own screens to other of its devices such as the iPhone. Likewise, the screens produced by Apple will update the current OLED standard, advocating microLED technology, as the sources have advanced.

The software developed by LG provides a more efficient way to generate and analyze X-ray images, according to the company in a statement sent to Europa Press. The intelligent algorithm, designed for large hospitals and clinics, is scientifically proven by Vuno and allows medical staff to view the original X-rays and the images analyzed by artificial intelligence at the same time, to diagnose lung diseases such as tuberculosis, pneumonia or lung cancer.

This new incorporation adds to the launch of a new model of flat panel digital detector (DXD) for X-ray detection with oxide panel, a wireless device for radiological studies that complements the existing equipment catalog and is integrated into the rest of the solutions for the health sector of the Korean brand.

The new LG DXD can analyze X-rays, previously by artificial intelligence, to detect interstitial opacity, consolidation, pneumothorax, pleural effusion and nodule/mass, and then inform the medical expert of any abnormalities and provide a clear image of the detected lesion.

Five years of LG in the health sector

The launch of this new device comes just as LG celebrates five years in Spain offering devices for medical use. With an IP68 rating, the new DXD is safe to use in conditions where dusty and wet areas exist. Additionally, having an eight-hour battery life offers easy portability.

The Korean brand is also betting on high-resolution diagnostic monitors for even more precise viewing of images in fields such as breast cancer detection or digitization of pathological anatomy.

In this sense, LG offers new facilities such as the multi-resolution mode with sizes of more than 30 inches, which makes it possible to replace the need for two screens with a single device, with the consequent savings in platform management. Its 12MP resolution reproduces images in a stable way and with high quality to reduce the possibility of errors in the diagnostic process and in the case of digital pathology, to have an image on the screen similar to that offered by high-tech microscopes.

The LG company stated that it will continue to sponsor its brand and maintain the technical support and support that current customers require to keep their LG solar panels.
LG Chem, LG’s chemical laboratories unit, announced on Tuesday its new solutions for new generations of electronic devices with folding screens.

The new material makes the screen “as hard as glass, while the folding parts are as flexible as plastic,” according to LG. It is a few dozen microns thick and is applied to both sides of a PET plastic film, although the company also prepares a version of the protector that can be used without the plastic film.

The new element is thinner than tempered glass, but also offers the same resistance. The South Korean company’s solution is cheaper than current flexible display technologies and guarantees durability for more than 200,000 folds.

LG has explained that, unlike most current folding screens that fold only inwards, its protective material will allow to create devices that fold inwards and outwards.

The manufacturing of the new Real Folding Window material will start in 2022 and the company expects this protector to begin full-scale sales in 2023.

LG has officially shown Rollable, with a demo of its resizable screen simulating the follow-up of its event at CES through this mobile device. Held in the hand, it goes from a smartphone size to a tablet size, and vice versa, without altering the content being viewed.

The operation of this roll-up smartphone is focused on horizontal use, so that the OLED screen will extend along the sides of the phone. This solution allows the hinge pressure to dissipate over a larger area.

It is the second smartphone within LG’s Explorer Project, and the first details of its development were known in early July last year.

At the end of the CES 2021 conference, LG noted that there is “more to explore,” at which point it unveiled the name of the device, while picking up the roll-up screen.
