Brazil passed Law 15.345/2026 to allow acupuncture services in the emergency rooms of public hospitals, becoming the first country in the region to include Chinese medicine in its healthcare facilities.

This measure positions the South American country as a “global leader by institutionalizing Traditional Chinese Medicine in private practices and the emergency rooms of its public hospitals. An ancient technique that may be the modern answer to health.”

Dr. Márcia Yamamura, head of acupuncture at Hospital São Paulo, indicated that the health center already offers three levels of care: primary, secondary, and tertiary. These are highly complex services where “primary care patients come to our emergency room.”

The hospital also functions as a “specialized care center, since acupuncture is a recognized medical specialty in Brazil. Finally, those highly complex patients already being treated at Hospital São Paulo also come here to receive their acupuncture treatments.”

Benefits of Acupuncture

The specialist emphasized that acupuncture primarily addresses chronic pain. In this regard, “patients prefer to come here first to alleviate their acute episodes and gradually reduce their medication use.”

Many people suffer from persistent pain and then experience side effects from medications without finding relief.

Between 60 and 80 patients visit Hospital São Paulo daily seeking a better quality of life, which acupuncture provides almost immediately. Thanks to the exchange of knowledge and cooperation between China and Brazil, this ancient medicine is now accessible to those most in need.

Participants in this meeting, coordinated by engineer Elías Matta, included lawyer Martha Acosta, a specialist in Mining Law; lawyer Verónica Barboza from George Washington University, with a Master’s degree in Strategy and Governance; and others.

One of the main aspects of this forum was the proposal to create ANGAM “as an autonomous institute” responsible for “managing and administering mining rights, coordinating the Public Mining Registry and the National Mining Cadastre, and clearly separating the regulatory (Agency) and oversight (Ministry) functions, eliminating the current conflict of interest and discretionary power.”

The speakers agreed that “the Venezuelan mining model must shift from a one-off contractual approach to a systemic model that involves a profound transformation of public policy.” Barboza emphasized the need to apply “international standards such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and UNFC 2019.”

The experts addressed other aspects to consider, such as legal security and regional competitiveness, sustainability and combating illegal activity, and the economic potential of mining for the country. All these issues, carefully managed, could generate between $6 billion and $10 billion in revenue to boost the country’s development.

The specialist indicated that “despite the recent foreign currency injections by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) to stabilize the exchange rate, digital currencies maintain a strong presence in the economy.”

Regarding the role of banks before cryptocurrencies, he stated: “The banking sector is a crucial ally. It acts as a ‘railway’ or gateway for cash-in and cash-out transactions. Although banking institutions cannot perform direct exchanges, they allow exchange houses to carry out instant transactions.”

Garrido noted that in Venezuela, the trading of digital assets has a clear legal framework, recalling that the National Superintendency of Cryptoassets and Related Activities (Sunacrip in Spanish) has been the entity responsible for regulating the sector since 2023. “The legality of using cryptocurrencies is established in the 2019 Constituent Decree, and BA VEN-NIF 12 regulates the accounting records of digital assets,” he added.

In a change of position towards cryptocurrencies, the Dubai Court of First Instance has recognized these digital assets as means of payment for salaries.

This was stated by Irina Heaver, partner at the United Arab Emirates law firm NeosLegal, who referred to “the ruling in case number 1739 of 2024” in comparison to the situation a year ago.

According to Heaver, in the case an employee had filed a lawsuit “alleging that the employer had not paid his wages, wrongful dismissal compensation and other benefits. The worker’s employment contract stipulated a monthly salary in fiat and 5,250 in EcoWatt tokens. “The litigation has its origins in the employer’s inability to pay the token portion of the employee’s salary within six months.”

In reference to the litigation, it is important to note that last year the court recognized the inclusion of EcoWatts tokens in the contract. However, it was indicated that the payment was not made in cryptocurrencies since the worker “did not provide a clear method to value the currency in fiduciary terms.”

Inclusive salary approach on the path to the digital economy

Heaver clarified that in 2024, the court ordered the payment of the crypto salary according to the employment contract without converting it into fiat. “This decision reflects broader acceptance of cryptocurrencies in employment contracts and highlights the court’s recognition of the evolving nature of financial transactions within the Web3 economy.”

The lawyer also stressed that the court’s reliance on the UAE Civil Transactions Law and Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 in the two rulings is an example of the consistent application of legal principles in determining salaries.

With this precedent, it is possible to foresee an increase in the adoption of digital assets in everyday financial transactions in the UAE, with a more inclusive and innovative salary approach, strengthening the legitimate right of employees to pay their income in fiat or cryptocurrencies, according to the current legal framework.

The document addresses issues on digital assets that have not been explored so far by Russian legislation for this type of currency. It is expected, if approved, that it provide a legal foundation for both citizens and investors in the crypto ecosystem.

With the bill, greater clarity is expected regarding the management of crypto assets, digital mining, as well as “providing a legal framework for their legal issuance and circulation in Russia, certifications, trade, and more.”

Another aspect addressed in the document is related to the permission of the actors that will participate in the system and establishes that “Russian entities will have to receive a permit to trade with cryptocurrencies and must comply with a rigorous and strict identification process”. Platforms with minimum capital

Like any bill, it has its detractors. Some analysts are already sharing their impressions, some believe that the project is “useless” and the procedures quite “cumbersome”, especially for small and medium-sized companies.

According to the document, it is not possible to “sell or buy digital currencies” without taking into account the identification, and it will only be possible to “deposit and withdraw fiduciary currencies through banks through a bank account”.

The regulation of the use of cryptocurrencies in Russia can be a very good sign to establish a legal foundation for the cryptographic system in the country, but it is also important to listen to criticism in order to improve the final document.

Recent information shows that Vietnam is working on the development of a legal framework dedicated to ensuring the good coexistence of cryptocurrencies with citizens.

The nation’s Deputy Prime Minister, Le Minh Khai, sent direct instructions to the Ministries of Finance, Justice, and Information and Communications to work together with the State Bank of Vietnam to work on this framework.

Minh Khai specifically entrusted the Ministry of Finance with the primary responsibility for reaching agreement with other regulators and the central bank to identify specific laws that need to be amended, supplemented and enacted, as well as recommending a specific time frame for implementation.

The Government of Spain is working on a way to cover all the legal voids in cryptocurrencies, this is how the Extraordinary Council of Ministers approved a reform that will allow the National Securities Market Commission (NSMC) to monitor advertising on investment in digital assets.

As soon as the reform is applicable, the NSMC may authorize or ban any advertising on investment in crypto assets.

A capacity that will also be applicable for campaigns formulated from institutions that are not under the umbrella of their direct supervision, which includes the vast majority of bitcoin trading platforms and others that operate in Spain.

All this occurs at a time when Europe is waiting for a regulatory framework that defines all the rules related to cryptocurrencies in general. Brussels is currently negotiating a set of rules known by the acronym MiCa.

At the moment, the only regulation that had been formulated on crypto assets in Spain was on their taxation, a measure with which the Government hopes to avoid fraud and collect about 40 million euros.
