Nine Venezuelan universities, five public and four private, are included in the QS World University Rankings Latin America & The Caribbean, published on Wednesday, October 1.

The public institutions that appear in the ranking are Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), Simón Bolívar (USB), Los Andes (ULA), Zulia (LUZ), and Carabobo (UC); The private universities are Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB), Metropolitan University (UM), Rafael Belloso Chacín University (URBC), and the Technological University of the Center (UNITEC).

The parameters taken into account by the QS World University Rankings in evaluating these higher education institutions globally include “academic reputation, research quality, graduate employability, learning experience, international commitment, and sustainability.”

In the case of Venezuela, the nine universities featured in this ranking “are part of an ecosystem of 175 university institutions” where quality education is provided to more than 2.5 million students.

Amazon is developing a technology based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) that recovers the voice of deceased loved ones and reproduces them through its virtual assistant, Alexa.

The company revealed this work during the re:MARS conference, an event dedicated to machine learning (machine learning) and automation, where it exhibited a demonstration of it.

The person in charge of making it known was the senior engineer Rohit Prasad, who assured that “one of the most surprising things about Alexa is the relationship of companionship that we have with her.”

Prasad insisted that “in this relationship of fellowship, the human attributes of empathy and affection are key to building trust” and that these have become relevant as a result of the pandemic.

“Many of us have lost a loved one, and while AI can’t take away the pain of loss, it can make their memories live on,” Prasad said.

Microsoft’s tool called Viva is designed to enhance the remote work experience through modules that revolve around connections, knowledge, topics, and learning.

This is a first platform that offers employees the possibility of incorporating communication, wellness, learning and knowledge discovery tools into the remote workflow.

This platform is integrated into Teams and Microsoft 365, and is based on four modules: Connections, Knowledge, Topics, and Learning. As of this Thursday, an initial set of modules is available, although the rest will arrive throughout this year, as the company explains in a statement.

Viva Topics displays topic cards with related documents, conversations, videos and people, generated by AI from services such as Teams or Microsoft 365 applications.

For its part, Viva Connections is presented as a dashboard with which the worker can access internal communications and company resources, as well as participate in groups with other employees.

Another module, Viva Insights, collects data from the experience of employees to manage breaks, the time they focus on work and learning, as well as relationships with colleagues. The information will be available to organizational leaders, who will be able to see trends at the team and organization level and “tips to better balance productivity and well-being.”

Lastly, the Viva Learning module delves into employee learning and development.
