Six airlines, three of Colombian operation and three Venezuelan, have the authorization of the Civil Aeronautics of Colombia (Aerocivil) to carry out commercial passenger flights between both countries, official sources reported this Saturday.

According to the Colombian Ministry of Transport, the authorized companies are Wingo, Avianca and Latam and the Venezuelan companies Laser, Avior and Turpial

“After a dialogue between Minister Guillermo Reyes and his Venezuelan counterpart, it was confirmed that these airlines were admitted by the aeronautical authorities of both countries to operate,” explained the Colombian Transportation portfolio on social networks.

The information is known after there was no clarity about the reestablishment of air operations between Colombia and Venezuela, which, as was mentioned before the reopening, would begin on September 26.

Status of each airline

According to the Ministry of Transportation, Wingo has authorization from Aerocivil and has accredited compliance with the requirements before the Venezuelan authority regarding the Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá route, with 7 weekly frequencies.

It is ready to market its flights once the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Venezuela authorizes it, the information points out.

On the Medellín-Caracas-Medellín route, with 7 weekly frequencies, the approval of the itinerary by the Venezuelan Authority is pending.

Regarding the Bogotá-Valencia-Bogotá route, with 7 weekly frequencies, requirements have been accredited, and the operation authorization is in process.

Latam has been approved by Aerocivil and acceptance of designation by the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) of Venezuela, from July 22, 2022 for the Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá route, with 7 weekly frequencies.

Likewise, Aerocivil authorized Avianca’s operation. The airline has been accrediting requirements before the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Venezuela to obtain permission on the Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá route, with 7 weekly frequencies.

Meanwhile, Laser received the go-ahead from Venezuela to cover the Maiquetía-Bogotá-Maiquetía and Maracaibo-Bogotá-Maracaibo routes, with 7 weekly frequencies for each route.

The Colombian Civil Aeronautics has accepted the approval and has communicated to the company the status of the operating permit and the steps to follow.

Turpial was approved by Aerocivil to carry out charter flights and is awaiting authorization from the Venezuelan government.

While Avior’s foreign operator certificate was recognized and consultations related to administrative aspects are being advanced by the Colombian Aeronautical Authority.
