Through a strategic commercial alliance between the Lara Foreign Trade Company (Emcoex Lara) and a group of Spanish investors, the South American nation plans to begin exporting 360,000 tons of white clay at the end of this year.

This initiative is part of “the economic diversification strategy of the Venezuelan authorities.”

The planning of these exports began two years ago and is aligned with the Venezuelan authorities’ measures to diversify national economic activity.

According to Juan Carlos Romero, president of Emcoex Lara, “these operations will seek to position the state as an export center to generate sustainable foreign currency over time.”

The Spanish investors participating in this project confirmed that they have already “installed a state-of-the-art laboratory in the city of Quíbor, to certify the quality of the white clay and guarantee a stable supply of the product for more than 50 years.”

Romero noted that the white clay export route “opens the door for Venezuela to compete in a market where it has never been present,” in a dynamic that could displace Ukraine, the European nation’s historical supplier of this product.

The first shipment of white clay is estimated to leave Venezuela in late 2025 on one or two ships. “Likewise, by 2026, the intention is for shipments of this product to be made monthly and regularly, which will allow for the frequent inflow of foreign currency to the Caribbean nation.”
