Maduro said: “Venezuela will soon have its own artificial intelligence, sovereign, national, Venezuelan, coordinated by the world, but fueled by us,” during a visit to a school to mark the start of the new 2025-2026 school year.

Although the Venezuelan president did not provide further details about the announcement or specify a date for when Venezuela will have its AI, he referred to it as a positive step forward for the nation.

In November 2024, the president urged action in education so that the country knows how to “manage AI at the highest level, through alliances with strategic allies such as Russia and China.”

According to Maduro, AI and new technologies should be studied in all university programs, “and he highlighted their application in fields such as medicine, engineering, design, and political science,” among others.

An important piece of information related to this announcement is the signing of a memorandum of understanding last July with the Chinese company iFlytek for the joint development of AI technologies.
