Limited damage to Venezuela’s oil, gas, and refining infrastructure was reported following the earthquakes of June 24.

According to Reuters, “most of the country’s major producing regions, refineries, pipelines, and terminals are located far from the affected cities. However, the power outage has raised concerns about whether oil production can be maintained at its pre-earthquake level of approximately 1.2 million barrels per day, according to sources,” the news outlet reported.

The Paraguaná refining complex continued operating at the same level as before the earthquakes, according to workers. No major damage was reported in the Orinoco Oil Belt or western Venezuela.

“Major international energy companies stated that their projects were operational.” However, Pequiven and PDVSA have not provided information on the status of their operations.

The Venezuelan government activated the network of public health centers to provide assistance to those injured and seriously wounded in the earthquakes that occurred late Wednesday afternoon, June 24.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, eight public hospitals and twelve clinics were activated to treat those affected by the earthquake on June 24. The measure covers the most affected states: Capital District, La Guaira, Miranda, Aragua, Carabobo, and Falcón.

All health centers will be operating at maximum capacity to receive those affected by the earthquakes.
