FIFA will distribute more than $1 billion among the 32 clubs participating in the Club World Cup, which begins this Saturday, June 14 in the United States of America. The winner of the event will take home $125 million.

With an expanded 32-team format, unprecedented prize money, and strategic distribution by continent, this edition of the Club World Cup is shaping up to be the most lucrative in history.

According to details revealed by FIFA, the distribution scheme for the billion-dollar figure “includes USD 475 million for sporting performance and USD 525 million for participation, with amounts differentiated according to the continent of origin and progress in the competition.”

Each club receives an allocation for participation. South American teams will receive USD 15.21 million; each win in the group stage will be awarded USD 2 million, and each draw USD 1 million. European clubs, meanwhile, will receive an allocation between USD 12.81 and USD 38.19 million.

For teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa, the allocation will be USD 9.55 million per club; the representative from Oceania will receive USD 3.58 million.

As the competition progresses, millions will be added to the teams: round of 16, USD 7.5 million; quarterfinals, USD 13.125 million; semifinals, USD 21 million; Runner-up, $30 million; champion, $40 million.
