The annual summit of the Caribbean Community, Caricom, will take place between July 28 and 30, in Grenada, to analyze the issue of the climate crisis and its effects on the environment.

The event was initially scheduled for the 3rd to the 5th of the current month, but had to be rescheduled due to the passage of Hurricane Beryl, which caused disasters as it passed through the region.

Grenada Prime Minister Dickson Mitchell said: “We postponed the meeting, but we intend to hold it because we believe it is an opportunity for all of us in Caricom to come together and show solidarity and support for Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Barbados and Saint Lucia that have suffered the impact of this terrible hurricane.”

The 47th edition of the summit will allow Caribbean leaders to meet in the Granada district of Saint George, with the purpose of discussing topics such as “environmental catastrophes, the climate crisis and crime that affect the Caribbean.”

It is important to remember that the Caribbean Summit is made up of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahamas, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
