Travelers who “have stayed at least ten days in those countries” must prove they have received the vaccination. This measure also applies to Ecuadorians themselves.

All travelers “arriving by air” must present certification of having received the yellow fever vaccination ten days before their flight. The requirement is a response to the “regional health alert affecting several South American countries, where there have been outbreaks of yellow fever, a disease transmitted by mosquito bites.”

The Ecuadorian government has clarified that vaccination certificates from previous years will be valid, given that a single dose is sufficient to acquire lifelong immunity against yellow fever.

Ecuador’s Deputy Minister of Health Governance, Juan Sánchez, emphasized that “there is an alert in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil, where yellow fever is actively circulating. In response, Ecuador has issued a health alert, and among the actions taken is the requirement of an international vaccination card.”
