A recent announcement by Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Co-Chair of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, Dmitry Chernyshenko, indicates that Russia and Cuba will work together to develop a cancer vaccine.

This innovation will be possible thanks to the scientific exchanges between the two countries that have been underway since last year.

In this regard, it was revealed that in 2025, “Russia supplied Cuba with 600 substances for the production of pharmaceuticals.” As a further step in this exchange, a memorandum of understanding was signed for the “joint development of an oncovaccine.”

Regarding the cancer vaccine, last May the director of the Cuban Institute of Oncology and Radiology, Luis Eduardo Martín, indicated that the two countries are conducting scientific exchanges with the N. P. Napalkov Clinical Scientific and Practical Center, based in St. Petersburg, Russia, including the development of cancer medications.

Currently, trials are being conducted on Cuban patients with a biosimilar of the monoclonal antibody Pembrolizumab, showing good results in the localization of melanomas and lymphomas.

The financial authorities of Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates are working on the crystallization of a joint regulatory framework for the use of cryptocurrencies.

In the search for alternative financial mechanisms to the US dollar, both regions have been expanding the adoption of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment.

Likewise, they are studying the launch of a central bank digital currency, CBDC, that allows fast, secure transactions and with less expensive processes.

One step in this direction is the decision taken last April by the United Arab Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority to allow cryptocurrency companies to apply for licenses for their operations.

One of the first companies to do so was the Hong Kong asset custody company Hex Trust.

Both regions have also advanced in blockchain technology, fintech platforms, Web3, among others. In parallel, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates have been working on an mBridge, a new blockchain that supports multiple CBDCs and seeks to address limitations in current cross-border payment systems.

Airbus and Ecocopter have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to start collaborating on the launch of urban air mobility services in Chile, Ecuador and Peru, as reported in a statement.

The companies have highlighted that this is an important step towards the co-creation of a functioning urban air mobility (UAM) ecosystem in the region.

With this agreement, the firms will explore and define scenarios for launching air mobility operations, especially in Ecuador, Chile and Peru. This includes joint activities to develop UAM operations on the continent, as well as ways to approach early use cases and pilot cities and regions.

“With 20 years of experience operating helicopters and five years operating drones, this association is a natural step for us. We seek to be a relevant player in the UAM ecosystem and the projects that we will develop together with Airbus will bring us closer to this goal”, highlighted the CEO of Ecocopter, Marcelo Rajchman.

For his part, the head of Partnerships and Execution of Airbus Strategies for the UAM, Balkiz Sarihan, pointed out that with this alliance the companies take “concrete steps in the co-creation of the UAM ecosystem” and in the decarbonization roadmap.

“This partnership leverages Airbus’ expertise in innovative vertical flight technologies, and Ecocopter’s extensive operational history and innovative culture,” added Sarihan.

Founded in 2003, Ecocopter specializes in highly complex aerial work missions in South America. Its fleet of Airbus helicopters, made up of 16 H125s, two H135s and three H145s, is characterized by its great versatility and performs missions ranging from offshore transport, mining support, medical evacuation, firefighting and nearly the full range of aerial work missions.
