This last point has reported gross income of 266 million euros not initially foreseen in the budget, approved at the Assembly on June 16, 2022.

Without the effect of this extraordinary sale, they have achieved 750 million euros in the rest of the operating income, very close to the budget target and exceeding the result of the previous year by 119 million euros, thanks to the gradual recovery derived from the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Among revenues, it is also worth noting that there was a 415 % increase in revenues from the operation of the stadium and the rest of the facilities, which have placed the 2021/22 season on the path of recovering revenues prior to the pandemic (131 million euros), leaving behind a year 2020/21 without an audience.

“FC Barcelona announces the sale of 24.5 % of Barça Studios to the company Orpheus Media, managed by Mr. Jaume Roures, an audiovisual producer with extensive experience in the creation of audiovisual and digital content, for an amount of 100 million euros”, announced the blaugrana club.

According to the Catalan team, this agreement complements what was already signed on July 29 with “Socios.com”, the sale of another 24.5 % of Barça Studios, and will serve to accelerate the growth of the digital, NFT and Web 3 strategy of the club.

The sale has been carried out in accordance with the authorization of the General Assembly of Members of FC Barcelona held on October 23.

These 100 million euros should be used to try to register the five summer signings, Kessié, Christensen, Raphinha, Lewandowski and Koundé, as well as Sergi Roberto or Ousmane Dembélé, in LaLiga Santander in time for them to play this Saturday against Rayo Vallecano on the first day of the new season.

“We have proceeded to sell 25 % of Barça Studios for 100 million to Socios.com”, announced Laporta during the official presentation of Jules Koundé as a new Blaugrana player.

The president, responding to whether they could register the French central defender along with the rest of the signings, such as Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessié, Andreas Christensen and Raphinha, revealed that sale in principle for life, a company specialized in tokens, crypto and metaverse.

Those 100 million euros received from the sale of 25 % of Barça Studios would be the third lever activated by the club, after selling 25 % of the television rights in two other economic levers prior to Sixth Street, for more than 300 million euros.

“We understand that we are doing our homework and that we will be able to register the players. In principle, the sale is forever, it is the entry of a new partner, socios.com. And let’s see if a possible repurchase could be included. It has to do with the sale of the metaverse and the NFT”, Laporta explained.

“FC Barcelona announced an additional investment from Sixth Street, a leading global investment company with extensive experience in the world of sport and media, following the previously announced acquisition of 10% of the television rights of the LaLiga club,” the club said in a statement.

In this way, the entity chaired by Joan Laporta sold 25% of its television rights to this fund over the next 25 years and continues “executing its strategy to improve its financial strength and competitiveness”. Barça recalled that this transaction “executes a proposal that received majority support from the club’s members at its Extraordinary General Assembly last June.”

“We continue to advance our strategy and are delighted to have completed this additional agreement with Sixth Street which provides us with a significant increase in our financial strength,” said Laporta.

The president pointed out that in recent weeks the club and Sixth Street have “committed and collaborated with a shared understanding” of what they seek to achieve for their “organization”, and hoped that both can “have a great long-term collaboration agreement” .

This second operation joins the one carried out on June 30 that allowed FC Barcelona to activate the first economic lever to clean up its economy, in exchange for an initial investment by the company of 207.5 million euros over the next 25 years , which allowed the club to generate a total capital gain of 267 million and be able to undertake the signings of Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.

“The long-term strategic alliance in sports and entertainment, the inclusion of the brand on the men’s and women’s team jerseys and training kits,” the Catalan team said in a statement.

In addition, “for the first time, the global audio streaming platform becomes a regular partner of the stadium, which will be renamed Spotify Camp Nou“, the club said in a statement.

“Spotify and FC Barcelona will work together to create opportunities for the iconic shirt to become a space that can celebrate artists from around the world. As part of the collaboration, for the first time in the club’s history, the Stadium will be converted to be called Spotify Camp Nou,” the statement added.

However, the agreement “approved and signed by the Board of Directors of FC Barcelona“, “is subject to the ratification of the Extraordinary Assembly of Delegate Partners that will take place on April 3 through an electronic voting procedure.”

Within the framework of this new long-term alliance for the property rights of the stadium, which begins in July 2022, it will continue with “the ambitious remodeling of the Camp Nou site, as part of the Espai Barça project that will transform the facilities and the environment of the club in a new integrated Barça entertainment experience open to the city”, said the entity.

On the other hand, several sources assure that Barcelona police have carried out arrests, among them the former president of the club Josep María Bartomeu.

Several agents have been at the Blaugrana club offices since early in the morning to register them and obtain information on the case.

In July 2020, the Catalan police had entered the club’s offices to carry out searches for this case, which arose with the payment of one million euros from FC Barcelona to the company ‘i3 Ventures’ in five payments of 198,000 euros for allegedly bypass the internal control of the club and monitor social networks.

The Court of Instruction number 13 of Barcelona is investigating the case, under summary secrecy, after admitting the complaint of the fan platform Dignitat Blaugrana, for an alleged crime of unfair administration and corruption in the case of social networks.

Some of the supposed accounts controlled by the company were dedicated to criticizing active players of the club, such as Leo Messi or Gerard Piqué or former presidents such as Joan Laporta, now a candidate for the presidency in the elections this Sunday, March 7, together with the also affected Víctor Font, and Toni Freixa.
