The vehicle manufacturer Tesla announced that it decided to invest 1.5 billion dollars in the acquisition of bitcoin, now being a reserve for the future of the company.

After presenting the annual report to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), he also indicated that in the future it is planned to begin accepting this digital asset as a form of payment.

“Thereafter, we invested a total of 1.5 billion in bitcoin under this policy and we can acquire and hold digital assets from time to time in the long term. Furthermore, we hope to start accepting bitcoins as a form of payment for our products in the near future”, said Elon Musk’s company.

This purchase of bitcoin generates much more momentum for the digital asset, which has seen a growth in its value in recent months to the point of being close to $ 50,000 per btc.

The $ 1.5 billion invested by Tesla represents 8 % of the recorded cash and liquid assets, $ 19.4 billion, by the company in December 2020.
