The National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) of Venezuela announced the launch of a new technology application, whose main objective is to automate and make more effective the fight against digital piracy in the country.

According to the organization’s post on Instagram, “the tool will streamline processes such as managing website blocks and real-time monitoring of websites operating illegally.”

Furthermore, Conatel President Jorge Márquez indicated that the app “will facilitate the generation of metrics and instant reports, as well as the creation of a centralized database with information from internet service providers (ISPs).”

With this new tool, Conatel will strengthen its strategy of centralizing information, in addition to making processes and the provision of valuable data more efficient “to refine the fight against this scourge that affects the national industry.”

Márquez recalled that, “after establishing a protocol for reporting malicious websites in October 2024, more than 300 websites operating outside the law in Venezuela have been blocked.”

As a warning to users, Conatel cautioned about the risks of using unofficial applications, the dangers of malicious software that compromises device security, and unauthorized access to cameras, microphones, photo galleries, personal files, bank passwords, and financial information.
