This Thursday the decision was made regarding the Parler case, the US-based social network, which would have forced the Amazon company to use its servers and return to the Internet. The case was considered by a federal judge in the United States, who rejected the request of said network.

In her ruling, Judge Barbara Jacobs Rothstein indicated that Parler had not been able to prove the need for an emergency order that would have forced Amazon to reconnect the social network.

The Internet giant, on January 6, had made the decision to remove Parler from its platform due to the “violent content” disseminated by the social network for that date.

In this regard, the judge for the case reported that Amazon Web Services (AWS) “has convincingly argued that forcing it to host the violent content of Parler users would interfere with AWS’s ability to prevent its services from being used to promote and – as the events of January 6, 2021 have shown – even cause violence.”

In addition, the judge assured that the action does not violate freedom of expression, because Amazon is a private company with the authority to enforce its own rules.
