The 3rd International Cybersecurity Congress, convened by the Venezuelan Banking Association (Asobanca), will take place on May 26 in Caracas.

The invited panelists will address key topics not only for the future of Venezuelan banking in the digital sphere, but also topics of global interest, such as electronic fraud, the use of AI in banking infrastructure, customer service efficiency, and the interconnection of international markets.

According to the organizers, “this event arises at a time of transformation for the national financial sector, where information protection has ceased to be perceived as a mere operating expense and has become a strategic pillar of competitiveness.”

“In today’s digital economy, cybersecurity has become a differentiating business enabler that projects strength in the global environment,” the association stated, highlighting “the role of security as an engine of innovation” as one of the main topics on the agenda.

In this regard, they indicated that “a secure infrastructure is the only way for financial institutions to deploy emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), with the speed demanded by the current market without compromising the integrity of their clients’ data.”

Customer loyalty through digital trust will be another topic of discussion during the 3rd International Cybersecurity Congress.

Asobanca has highlighted compliance with international security standards as a strategic value and “crucial for projecting an image of solvency and professionalism to international investors and correspondent banks, thus facilitating interconnection with global financial markets.”

Oil, gas, and gold prices showed a marked increase on Monday due to the impact of the Middle East conflict on the energy sector.

Regarding oil, on Monday, March 2, the price exceeded $80 per barrel. Disruptions to crude oil supply drove the price of Brent Crude from the North Sea to $80.14 per barrel, representing a 9.98% increase.

On the other hand, “West Texas Intermediate (WTI) advanced nearly 12 %, in a direct reaction to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other high-ranking regime officials.”

Regarding European gas, the price rose more than 20 % in the first hours of the conflict. The Dutch TTF futures contract reportedly climbed to €38.885, according to AFP, although it remains below the level reached earlier this year during the cold snap.

Gold also opened the week higher, though it later stabilized, with a 2 % increase in value, as the attacks on Iran boosted demand for safe-haven assets. The precious metal was trading at $5,400 at the start of Monday.

Venezuela plans to direct its Aloe Vera production to international markets in 2026, especially to its commercialization in Asia and Europe, taking into account its importance in the production of pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and personal care products.

The country “plans to export a greater volume of Aloe Vera products to the Asian and European markets through the Sabilven company, which has consolidated itself as a strategic ally of the Ministry of Popular Power for Food,” stated the company’s president, José Diego Castillo.

The executive highlighted other sectors where the use of Aloe Vera is key, such as “dehydrated products, beverages, and aloe with collagen. He also noted that Asian and European markets are the largest consumers of these products.”

Castillo stated that the company he leads is capable of increasing production by 200 % this year to meet the demand of the European and Asian markets, adding that Salbiven has a variety of completely organic products for all the areas it serves.

The new economic and migration plan for the United Arab Emirates is expected to attract investments of 150,000 million dollars for the next nine years. This was reported by Abdulla bin Touq, the Emirati Minister of Economy, who also explained that the national executive will provide some 13.6 billion dollars, equivalent to approximately 11.5 billion euros for the same period.

In order to win over investors, the country will hold a “global investment summit early next year to attract 550 billion dirhams ($ 150 billion).” The minister also highlighted the development of an alliance with different international markets, including Israel for about 11 million dollars, equivalent to about 9,000 million euros.

For his part, the Minister of Industry and Technology, Sultan al Jaber, defined the process as “a new era of prosperity and development” and stressed that the government, together with the Emirates Development Bank, will make investments in the order of 1,360 million dollars in the digital sector.

Exceptional visa

The presentation was also attended by Zani al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, who explained the measures that will be implemented to make more flexible the legal aspects related to obtaining the “residence permit in the country, a controversial issue for the kafala system o sponsorship of various countries of the Persian Gulf that leaves foreign workers at the mercy of their employers”.

The country will be implementing a new visa for citizens “with exceptional abilities” such as investors, entrepreneurs and “exceptional students”, who will not require an “employer or company” to receive their residence permit. Likewise, a particular visa will be established for self-employed workers and the grace period will be extended up to 180 days.
