At its ‘N Day 2024’ event, Hyundai Motor Company’s N performance division has unveiled the RN24, a next-generation ‘Rolling Lab’ that combines high performance with forward-looking vision. Hyundai N is a sub-brand of high-performance cars, engines and related technologies established in 2012 by Hyundai.

The annual ‘N Day’ event highlights Hyundai N’s relentless innovation and commitment to pioneering high-performance, motorsport-proven technologies, especially for EVs. The event highlights the three pillars of Hyundai N: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability and Everyday Sportscar. These pillars reflect the brand’s commitment to creating fun and engaging driving experiences that are uniquely possible with EV technology.

High power in a cutting-edge, compact and lightweight chassis

The global debut of the RN24 showcases N’s vision for the near future. Inspired by the desire to fit the most powerful electric powertrain into the smallest possible package, Hyundai N applied the motorsport-capable, 650PS dual-motor power electronics (PE) system from the IONIQ 5 N. This, fitted into a World Rally Championship-inspired EV chassis, resulted in a compact, lightweight and agile EV designed for “N-enthusiasts.”

This Rolling Lab is not just a test vehicle; it’s a platform to start new conversations about next-generation, high-performance EVs. It reflects Hyundai N’s bold spirit to continue exploring new ways to enhance the electric driving experience, not only by increasing power and speed, but through a meticulous focus on handling and precision.

The model is equipped with the WRC Powertrain Drive Control Logic system. This advanced system allows drivers to adjust the PE Power, Acceleration Sensitivity, Regenerative Brake Sensitivity as well as the PE Power Balance using buttons on the steering wheel. In addition, the RN24’s battery and motor cooling performance is ensured through modifications made to the advanced system of the IONIQ 5 N, and additional agility is achieved through a quicker steering setup that offers a response at the level of a rally car.

And something else, very special for music lovers. The vehicle features a high-output external sound system, with two side speakers in addition to the IONIQ 5 N’s N Active Sound+ system. The RN24’s soundtrack is augmented by a rear fender design that acts as a sound box, enhancing the immersive sound experience for fans that complements the vehicle’s high-performance capabilities.
