Ukraine and Russia have agreed on Thursday to establish humanitarian corridors for the evacuation and delivery of food and medicine in the context of the conflict and a possible temporary ceasefire, as announced by the parties at the end of the second round of talks, dialogue to be repeated “soon”.

This was reported by the advisor to the Presidency of Ukraine, Mijailo Podoliak, through his account on the social network Twitter, where he also lamented that Ukraine “has not yet achieved the results it needs.”

According to the Ukrainian news portal Babel, Podoliak has detailed that the parties have discussed the possibility of establishing a ceasefire while food and medicine are delivered. Russia and Ukraine will create a special communication channel to discuss the possibility of establishing the aforementioned corridors.

Also, both parties have agreed to meet again “soon”, in what would be the third round of talks since the conflict broke out a week ago.

For his part, the head of the Russian delegation, the assistant to the Presidency Vladimir Mendinsky, described the agreements reached during the day as “significant progress”.

“The main issue that has been resolved is the issue of saving the people, the civilians, who were in the area of ​​the clashes,” Medinsky said, according to the Russian news agency TASS. In this sense, he has called on civilians in these areas to “use these humanitarian corridors” or “do everything possible to stop hostilities” if they continue.

According to the head of the Russian delegation, three aspects were discussed during the talks: the military, the international humanitarian and a future political solution to the conflict. “The positions are absolutely clear, they are written point by point,” he indicated, before emphasizing that the parties have managed to “find a mutual understanding for some of them.”
