The change will be released in the brand’s new phone, the Mate 70 as a strategy to move away from American technology.

According to the announcement made at a live event on Tuesday, November 26, “the new devices boost Huawei’s campaign to recover the Chinese high-end against Apple Inc. and build an ecosystem without the participation of the main American technology providers.”

The new phone hits the market on December 4 with its Pro variants. HarmonyOS Next is expected to take two to three months to improve the user experience. However, the company has indicated that it will be incorporated into upcoming devices as soon as possible.

It is known that other Chinese technology companies “are also exploring ways to reduce their dependence on foreign technology. Xiaomi Corp. is preparing a mobile processor of its own design for its upcoming smartphones in an effort to reduce dependence on Qualcomm and MediaTek.”

Huawei has a team of professionals who are oriented to new trends that are based on the most advanced technologies for key sectors of every nation such as education, medical services, finance, electronic commerce, banking and governance.

Fernando Liu, Huawei’s CEO for Latin America, advanced the information recently during the celebration of the commemoration of the three years of Huawei Cloud in Latin America, in Rio de Janeiro. He stressed that they are the fourth-largest cloud service in Latin America and are focused on “reaching more industries in the region.”

Latin America has advanced in this matter; however, further investment is still required to underpin cloud technology. Huawei will give its contribution with these two new data centers in 2023, one in Chile and the other in Mexico.

Solid benefits, facilities and time savings are expected not only for people but also for companies with their digital services, thanks to the “incorporation of new technologies to the Latin American network between 2022 and 2023, which will make it faster and more efficient.”

The most important companies in the sector such as Samsung, Nokia, Google and Facebook will have a virtual participation, due to covid-19. But Huawei, which is sanctioned in the United States, which has caused a sharp drop in its sales, is the main company that will have a physical presence at the event.

In the annual mobile phone congress, unlike past editions, there will be no launches of new models or equipment by the main manufacturers in the sector. However, some small Chinese and European companies will take advantage of the event to expose their novelties.

The general director of the association of telecommunication operators GSMA, which organizes the show in Barcelona, Mats Granryd, explains that obviously “the event will be very different compared to previous years”. This year the event will have three rooms out of the eight it normally occupied.

The organizers estimate a maximum of 50,000 visitors, but they really believe that 35,000 will attend. The organizations in the sector will send, for the most part, their senior managers, reducing the number of employees that they normally transfer.

Granryd also stressed that to enter the room, attendees must present a negative covid test with less than 72 hours of completion, wear high protection FFP2 masks and follow the direction of circulation set in the corridors.

It was known trah Elon Musk will present on Tuesday his Starlink satellite Internet project, which aims to offer high-speed access throughout the planet. The rest of the conferences will analyze topics such as the global deployment of ultra-fast 5G Internet networks, the increase in demand for connected objects and telemedicine.

This is how the company has surpassed other large competitors such as Huawei, or even Xiaomi itself, which has become very popular in recent times.

In January of this year, Oppo had 21 % of the market share in the Asian country, while Vivo, which was about to surpass it, was left with 20 %. On the other hand, Huawei fell to third place, tying with Apple and Xiaomi who now have 16 % market share in that country.

In numbers, the growth of the company is considered impressive, since after months it has seen an increases of approximately 33 %, added to the year-on-year increase of 26 % in its sales.

Part of its success was due to adopting a strategy similar to Huawei’s. The company is attacking the segments that its competitors have let loose. This means that it takes advantage of the premium mid-range market with large equipment with powerful hardware at competitive prices such as the Reno 5 series.

Apple recovered the second position in the list of the manufacturers of smartphoneds that sold the most devices in the world, after surpassing the Chinese Huawei with the almost 200 million mobile phones that it has sold throughout the year 2020, behind the South Korean Samsung.

The latest study by the analysis firm Gartner places Samsung as the first mobile seller of 2020, with more than 253 million units sold and 18.8% market share, data that nevertheless represents a fall of 14, 6 % compared to 2019.

In 2020 Apple managed to retake the second position in the list of mobile phone sellers to the detriment of the Chinese Huawei, with about 200 million devices and 14.8 % market share, growing 3.3 % in the year .

Huawei is the big victim in the sales data for 2020, affected by the United States veto and without Google services, and falls by 24.1 % compared to 2019. Even so, it manages to be third and sell 182 million smartphones and gain 13.5 % of the market.

Behind are two other Chinese brands: Xiaomi, with about 146 million mobile devices, and Oppo, with 112 million units and 8.3 % share. Xiaomi is the one that grows the most, 15.7 %.

This topic, among others, will be discussed in the virtual forum that will be held next Monday thanks to the Efe agency and the Huawei company.

Various experts such as representatives of the public sector, ministers, and officials of Latin American governments will participate in the forum “Connectivity for Shared Prosperity. The Essential Digital Economic Engine”, which seeks to contribute to the dialogue on the digital economy and sustainable growth in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Senior Vice President of Huawei Technologies, Catherine Chen, assured that the company considers it a priority to be able to bring better broadband connectivity and technologies in the region, in order to favor growth.

“ICT development is the answer to these new challenges, enabling the digital economy, driving new economic growth and greater digital inclusion in the region”, Chen said.

The Latin American and Caribbean countries are in a second segment of technological development in the use of the three variables that mark the digital economy: broadband access, cloud services and artificial intelligence tools.

“Technology lessens the impact of a crisis like the pandemic. In the most developed countries, the drop in GDP has been 7 % and Latin America 14 %, which shows the importance of the digital economy”, explained Joaquín Saldaña, director of Strategy and Marketing at Huawei Latin America.
