Greece’s Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis indicated that Greece plans to host vaccinated tourists, who have antibodies or have a negative coronavirus test from May 14.

“We want to open to tourism on May 14 with specific rules and updated protocols. Until then, we will gradually lift the restrictions if conditions are favorable”, Theoharis explained.

The Minister of Tourism was at an international event of the tourism industry from the Acropolis museum in which he revealed some details of the plan, such as that tourists will have to undergo a rapid coronavirus detection test and that they will be adjusted to the same level of restrictions than the Greeks.

Along these specifications, Theoharis explained that the health capacities of the tourist destinations will be strengthened to ensure that both tourists and the natives of these locations receive “adequate care.”

The Hellenic country has been one of the partners that have most firmly promoted the creation of a vaccination passport at the European level, given that tourism is a key sector in the country’s economy.
