Gucci, the Italian clothing brand, announced the addition of the digital asset Apecoin, affiliated with the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, as a payment method.

The luxurious company thus becomes, from August 1st, the first of its kind to accept transactions with ape.

Gucci’s customers in the US will now be able to buy items in stores with ape, while the payment infrastructure will be provided by BitPay, a firm that has helped big names like AMC Theaters accept cryptocurrency payments in the past.

This is not the first time that the Italian company has done something related to the world of cryptocurrencies, in February they ventured with the release of an NFT collection called “SuperGucci”, a collaboration made with the X Superplastic toy brand.

The Italian brand Gucci announced that it will soon accept payments with cryptocurrencies in all its stores in the United States.

The company’s goal is to gradually bring the acceptance of this payment method to all its stores in North America, which today number 111.

Gucci will accept 12 cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ethereum, dogecoin, shiba inu, among others; in addition to five US dollar stablecoins.

Customers who wish to cancel with them will be sent an email with a QR code to pay through their digital asset wallet. Employees have begun training and education on cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and Web3 in preparation for the launch.
