Google Maps announced the update of its augmented reality-based tool in order to guide users inside airports, trainspaces and shopping centers.

This function is already known as Live View, which was launched in 2020 by Google, and which places on the images of the street captured by the user’s phone camera to give directions through images.

Until now, these indications were only visible in open public spaces (streets, roads and parks), but as of this week they are already available in some closed spaces in the US and will reach cities around the world in the next few months.

For now, this feature will only be available to users in Chicago, LongIsland, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.

The two international cities that the company has already announced will receive the service in the near future are Tokyo and Zurich.

In an entry on its corporate blog, Google says the user will be able to find the closest elevator or stairs at an airport or train station, as well as the boarding gate, the road, the baggage claim point, the counter, the restrooms or an ATM.

Payment for street parking is available on Android from this Wednesday in more than 400 cities in the United States, such as Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC, with the integration of Passport and ParkMobile solutions.

The user will see when he approaches his destination following the navigation mode, a message that will indicate “Pay for parking”. You will only be asked to indicate the number of the parking meter and the time the car will stay parked, to pay the fee.

This payment function uses Pay, Google’s mobile payment application, which also allows payments to be made on public transport. On Android it will be extended to 80 transport agencies around the world “in the coming weeks”, as reported in its official blog.

Google Maps allows you to see in the transit directions the option of payment with the mobile in the associated transport agencies. With this function, the ticket can be purchased in advance, which can be shown on the telephone when arriving at the station.
