In these formal situations, a polite greeting is appropriate, followed by a short paragraph expressing the main message, a closing, and a signature. Avoid using everyday words or emojis.

Using email for urgent matters is not recommended. This is the second most common mistake and can be avoided by making a call, video call, or sending a message via WhatsApp, as more immediate alternatives. There is also the option of meeting the person in person.

The third mistake is using email with inefficient structuring, including unnecessary paragraphs and leaving the most important or essential information for the end. In these cases, the email may be partially read without the recipient understanding the sender’s message. Furthermore, reading excessively long texts is tedious and time-consuming these days.

The fourth common mistake in email writing is the use of attachments. In this regard, and to avoid being considered spam or a threat, it’s essential to specify in the email body what is being attached and its corresponding format: .pdf, .docx, .jpg, .mov, .zip. And, of course, remember to attach the file.

The fifth mistake, significant for its lack of courtesy, is sending a new email too soon. Considering that messages sent via Gmail, WhatsApp, or other similar platforms are not opened instantly, it’s best to wait 24 to 72 hours between sending one email and the next. Always consider whether the matter is urgent, as in such cases, a call or personal visit to the recipient is more efficient.

These errors are the most common in daily email sending. They make the sender appear unprofessional, anxious, careless, or even disrespectful.

This way, Gmail users will be able to show their gratitude to the sender, send a greeting, or indicate acceptance of an invitation using an emoji as an “expressive and personalized way to respond to emails.”

To add emoji reactions to emails, simply click the “Add emoji reactions” button located at the top of the message, next to the “Reply” button. Additionally, “you can see more emojis by tapping the + button, and all these reactions will appear at the end of the email.”

However, the technology company has clarified that “the feature will be disabled by default in Gmail, and they clarify that these emoji reactions cannot be sent to emails received through a Google Group or to those that have a Google Group in the recipient list.”

In addition to being available for iOS, Android, and web clients, it will also be available for Google Workspace customers, as well as users with personal Google accounts.

Google has indicated that users can keep their email accounts active by logging in with their username and password at least once every two years. In addition, they can use services associated with Gmail, such as Photos, Drive or Calendar.

Saving an account that has been inactive for a long time is also possible by simply sending an email, using the account as a way to log in to third-party platforms, sending a YouTube video, among others.

This icon, when clicked, displays a series of emojis to express a reaction, but it is possible to access a larger selection. When you choose one that reflects the feeling that the message raises, this emoji will appear at the bottom of the message, above the quick response options.

Not only the user’s reaction will be shown, but also the reactions of other people, as the company clarifies. You can know who has reacted by simply pressing the emoji and holding it down.

Reactions, however, are not available for school or professional accounts. Nor if the message has been sent to a limited group mailing list or to more than 20 recipients, or if the user has sent “more than 20 reactions to the same message.”

Reactions to Gmail emails have begun to be implemented in the Android application, and will soon also reach the web version and iOS, as reported in The Verge.

The Google Gmail email service introduced a new functionality that allows users to translate text and that has reached the version for mobile devices, that is, for iOS and Android terminals.

The company recalled that “for years” users were able to translate these messages into more than 100 languages in the web version of its service, something their mobile applications needed to allow them to “communicate without problems.”

To translate a message on a ‘smartphone’, the Gmail application will detect that it is a different language and will offer the ‘Translate’ button at the top of the message, under the sender, with a Settings button to choose the language wanted.

Google has also said that you can choose to have Gmail always translate content into a specific language or never. However, you can proceed with this translation through the three-point menu, located to the right of the text.

Also, if the translation option is turned off, it will reappear the next time the content language of an email doesn’t match the Google Mail display language.

Gmail translation for mobile will be available to all Google Workspace customers and personal Google accounts, and has been rolled out to Android gradually. In iOS, it will be deployed from August 21.
