Getty Images announced the purchase of Shutterstock, which includes the payment of the latter’s debt, with which the investment amounts to $331 million in cash and 319.4 million of its own shares.

Likewise, the American company Getty Images “offered to pay $28.85 in cash or give 13.67 shares of the company for each Shutterstock share.” With the purchase, a giant will emerge “that would be valued at US$3.7 billion, also counting the debt” that amounts to $1.4 billion.

According to the official statement, once the transaction is completed, Getty Images would have 54.7% of the combined company; “the shareholders of the company that will be acquired will own the remainder.”

The two largest providers of visual content under license from the United States will offer their service on a single platform.
