The technology company shows progress in its Gmail email service with these Gemini AI-powered contextual smart replies. The feature will offer “more detailed response suggestions tailored to the context of the messages.”

It is a major improvement on this type of response from Google’s email since 2017. “Now, instead of suggesting short responses like “That’s fine!” or “Thanks,” Gemini’s AI does a full analysis of the content of the emails and proposes “more elaborate and personalized messages.”

This has been achieved by Google with machine learning. Gemini can now analyze the context of each email message and generate more appropriate and useful response suggestions. “After initiating an email response, users will be able to access these new options, which will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. Hovering over each response will give users a preview of the full text, making it easier to select the most appropriate option.”

Once the user has selected the response that Gemini has suggested, they can begin editing it as they see fit or simply send it directly.

Google incorporates the blue checkmarks

In addition to the contextual smart responses, the technology company has launched the blue checkmarks to the application for iOS and Android.

The marks, which were introduced in 2021, aim to strengthen “security and trust between senders and recipients. By displaying the blue seal, it indicates that the sender is legitimate and is not spoofing, which helps to stop spam and cyberattacks.”

Gmail now also supports “Common Brand Certificates (CMC), a new type of BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) certificates” that are issued by Certificate Authorities (CAs), paving the way for a larger number of senders to use the BIMI system, strengthening the security of the service.
