This Sunday the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, announced the dissolution of the National Assembly, after suffering a wide defeat in the European elections, in which the far-right National Rally obtained a majority against Macron’s pro-European centrists. Le Pen’s party (first force in France) and the German conservative AfD party (2nd force in Germany), swept the elections.

The president issued a message to the country where he indicated that in the face of the events he could not act as if nothing had happened. He indicated: “I have decided to give back to you the power of decision over our parliamentary future through voting. Therefore, I am dissolving the National Assembly.”

The early elections will take place on June 30 and July 7 in the first and second rounds, respectively.
