In a meeting held this Thursday between the Secretary General of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (FPEG), Mohamed Hamel, and the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, the country made clear its openness to international cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons.

According to the state channel (VTV), which broadcast the meeting, Maduro made it clear that “it is ratified that the Government (…) is open to establishing relations of cooperation, of commercialization in the matter of hydrocarbons, through its main industry PDVSA, with world organizations, under the principles of win-win relationships.”

Rafael Tellechea, Minister of Petroleum, previously met with the FPEG representative to discuss issues related to the sector, agreements, marketing and production.

Delcy Rodríguez, Vice President of the Republic, also held a previous meeting with Mohamed Hamel, as well as delegates from the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries, as well as the executive secretary of the Latin American Energy Organization (Olade), Andrés Rebolledo.

The Forum of Gas Exporting Countries, an integration platform aimed at consolidating a “world model of gas supply and demand with cooperation with international energy organizations”, is made up of Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. While Azerbaijan, Iraq, Norway, Kazakhstan, Oman, Peru and Angola have the status of Observer Members.
