Inspired by Zoom, Skype seeks to renew itself once again. Microsoft has just announced that its calling platform will be faster, more reliable and will have a more modern design, integrating it with its operating system, Windows 11, which shows a new look in its entire interface, but mainly visible in the chat and the icons, respecting the Fluent Design guidelines, with new colors and gradients.

On the Skype screen, all participants will soon be able to be seen, even if they do not have the video option activated, in which case the image established in the profile or their initials will be displayed, the user having the possibility of configuring their view in “gallery” mode, grid, or inverse.”

Another new feature is the ability to make video calls without the need to register on the platform. Additionally, Skype will have another interesting function called TwinCam. “After scanning a QR code from the mobile it will allow adding a second camera to the video call in progress.”

Changes have also been made related to the operating system, which was increased by 30 % for devices with Android version, also promising that it will be compatible with different browsers and on all types of devices.

The announced changes will reach the versions of Skype for all the platforms on which it is available, but gradually, because Microsoft has not yet announced a date for its official launch.

This has been collected by the Windows Latest portal, which has accessed information about the new design of Windows 10, which is currently in development and is expected to be introduced in the October update of this year.

The new design, known by the code name Sun Valley, was unveiled last summer and seeks to achieve a visual rejuvenation of Windows 10 by using elements of Microsoft’s Fluent Design and the WinUI language. These changes that Microsoft is working on would be introduced in important components of the operating system interface, such as the action center, the texts and the start menu.

According to a recreation made by Windows Latest based on the information that is known so far about Sun Valley, the Windows 10 start menu will borrow a feature from Windows 10X (the version of Windows 10 designed for the flexibility of the cloud) as is the floating layout, with the menu slightly separated from the lower task bar.

The new Windows 10 Sun Valley start menu will also introduce rounded edges, and the radius of these edges cannot be customized, nor can the floating start menu layout be disabled. Microsoft is expected to complete the design of Sun Valley in June, and this update will also affect other native system applications such as alarms and clock, email and calendar.
