A flaw in the Meta AI app on Instagram left dozens of private conversations exposed in the feed without users’ consent.

The issue affects users once they log into Instagram, interact with the chatbot, and use the “share” button next to the conversation. Upon clicking, “the app automatically generates a preview as if it were a post and uploads it to the Discover feed publicly, without the user receiving any clear notification or warning of what is happening.”

The leak of sensitive data ranges from medical inquiries to questions addressing potential crimes.

Cybersecurity experts have warned about this privacy issue, which has been causing problems with the new Meta AI app since its launch on April 29.
