According to Capozzolo, “the national production system has the necessary resources to address the emergency. Citizens should not engage in panic buying, as companies are maintaining operations to ensure the continuous flow of essential goods throughout the country.”

Capozzolo indicated that Venezuela has the capacity to meet the current demand for agricultural products, personal care items, and medicines.

The executive asserted that the country can develop a plan with effective solutions. “We can have a fairly clear objective, and I am sure that we can raise our Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employment, and investment figures, and we can be on a more developmental path for the country,” he emphasized.

Regarding exports during the past year, “the trade association representative explained that there is significant room for improvement in Venezuelan exports, and there is much work to be done. That is why the focus and emphasis are on the capacity and the will to export.”

He added that “in 2023, Venezuela exported 19 billion dollars, of which slightly less than 3 billion came from the non-oil, non-gold, non-extractive sectors of the economy.”

There is still a long way to go, Capazzolo said, as the focus remains on the export of raw materials. According to the president of Fedecamaras, the next big step is exporting finished products: “Exporting with added national value means exporting good services. The crucial step is exporting the sacrifice and ingenuity of our people embodied in a high-quality product recognized internationally.”

The president of Fedecámaras, Felipe Capozzolo, announced last week that they will present their “Plan to Boost Investment and Productive Employment in Venezuela” during the upcoming National Council meeting, to be held during the first week of December.

Capozzolo said in an interview with the program Dos más Dos on Unión Radio that they hope their proposal will be considered by government authorities. He also emphasized that, regarding communication with the Executive branch, “there must be fluid relations to address difficult issues” and make progress on matters such as energy, public services, electricity, financing, inflation, and taxes paid by the private sector.

According to Capozzolo, it is essential to review the conditions of tax and parafiscal obligations in the country, considering that businesses want access to “digital assets, to create more jobs, generate exportable goods, penetrate new markets, and this would require building agreements, and this must be done directly with the national government.”

In this way, according to the executive, companies commit to generating 70 % of jobs and 50 % of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in non-oil goods.
