According to data from the European Union’s statistical office, Eurostat, the annual inflation rate in the Eurozone was 1.9 % in February, while for the EU it was 2.1 %.

The countries with the lowest annual rates were Cyprus (0.9 %) and the Czech Republic (1.0 %); the highest were recorded in Romania (8.3 %), Slovakia (4.0 %), and Croatia (3.9 %).

According to the statistics office, “compared to January 2016, annual inflation decreased in 11 Member States, remained stable in four, and increased in 12.”

In detail, the sectors that contributed most to the increase in the inflation rate were services (+1.54 percentage points); food, alcohol, and tobacco (+0.48); and non-energy industrial goods (+0.17). The energy sector, on the other hand, had a negative impact (-0.30).
