“Users will find a new section within the desktop settings. The goal of this tool is to offer a centralized location from which to decide whether to live with generative AI or remove its presence from the browser.”

In this way, the company is finally responding to a request from users who prefer a classic browsing experience. This will be achieved through a global switch called “Block AI enhancements.”

Activating this feature not only disables current functions but also stops the browser from displaying pop-ups or reminders suggesting the use of future tools based on this technology. If the user does not want a complete block, the browser will allow for individualized management.

Features that can be enabled or disabled independently include automatic translations, alternative text generation for PDF accessibility, and smart tab grouping. Control over link previews, which summarize the content before clicking, is also included.

Furthermore, the new control panel will integrate chatbots into the sidebar. Users will have the option to choose whether they want direct access to models like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or Microsoft Copilot, or if they prefer to keep the interface clean. These settings will be remembered after updates and can already be tested in the Firefox Nightly version.
