Elon Musk spoke of his ambitious plan to increase the speed of his Starlink Internet service to 2 Gb.

The Starlink company is working to provide rural and urban areas with a connection that is 25 times faster than the current one, which ranges between 50 and 100 Mbps.

In this sense, Gwynne Shotwell, president of SpaceX, recently explained that “the next generation of satellites will have smaller and higher-capacity light beams, which will reduce latency and improve speed.”

Of course, for this ambitious plan, Starlink will have to make a significant investment and expand its fleet of satellites in orbit, which currently exceeds 6,000 satellites. Musk aims to increase this fleet to 30,000.

SpaceX has not revealed details of how it hopes to increase Starlink’s speed to 2 Gb. What is certain is that it will have to face different challenges on the road “towards more advanced and accessible connectivity.”
