Social network X announced the launch of Articles, which it defined as “a new way to write and share extensive content with followers” on the platform and which is accessible to both verified organisations and Premium+ users.

The company started working on the article format a long time ago and it was in March 2022 that developer Jane Manchun Wong noticed the presence of this feature in the app’s code.

X finally launched the tool, presenting it on Thursday, 7 March, as “a new way to write and share extensive content with social media followers.”

To write an article, you only need to select the tab, located in the sidebar of the website. The option also allows you to use different formatting options, such as bold, italic or strike-through, as well as bullets and numbered lists.

The platform also commented that in the Articles, it is possible to insert images and videos to improve the narration of the contents “and add visual interest” to these long texts.

Once published, the articles, which can be edited and deleted at any time, will appear in the Articles section of the creators’ profile, as well as in the timeline of their followers, just like the rest of the articles.

However, the company has commented that to differentiate them from these, they will have a “unique” icon and design, which will ensure that the text of the article stands out.
