With the purpose of ending the dependence on Qualcomm for the development of cell phone processors, Xiaomi announced that it will begin its own design.

The Chinese technology giant takes a “firm step in the mobile industry to position itself as one of the few companies in the world that is capable of designing its own processors for the cell phones it already manufactures.”

This decision will end its dependence on foreign manufacturers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek. On the other hand, it will give it technological self-sufficiency.

According to the leaked information about Xiaomi’s project, the company will begin this design of its own processors in 2025, which it could also take advantage of “to improve other products in its wide catalog, such as tablets, IoT devices and, potentially, even its electric vehicles.”
