Movistar recently created an educational campaign in order to deal with cases of scams that are taking place through telephone lines.

Rodolfo Campa, vice president of marketing for Telefónica Movistar, assured that the company is “concerned” about the constant fraud attempts, for which they considered that this campaign would have a positive impact in terms of prevention.

On the Movistar website, you can find a robot to request information. “If the robot doesn’t have it, it passes it to an operator and the operator can give you other information,” he said.

Despite the fact that most of the incidents occur through the instant messaging application, WhatsApp, the company chose to report on the ways that have been implemented to obtain personal data from users.

“We feel we have a responsibility to our clients to warn them not to be scammed by these scammers,” Campa said.
