Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will try again to be deputy in the next general elections and, again, for the west London constituency he already represents, despite speculation about his possible transfer to a safer bastion.

The Uxbridge and South Ruislip Conservative Association has confirmed Johnson’s candidacy, highlighting in a statement the former Downing Street tenant’s “strong connections and involvement” with the London constituency.

Johnson has won by a wide margin in previous elections, but Labor is now within their reach to take this seat, so the victory of the former prime minister is not guaranteed. The environment of the former ‘premier’ has always ruled out a possible movement in search of a safer environment, according to the BBC.

Johnson, who left the head of government in September 2022 besieged by controversy over his parties and pressure from his own party colleagues, remains a popular politician in the United Kingdom, although to attempt a possible return to power he would need to continue to be part of the House of Commons.

The next elections, however, will not be held imminently, since the current legislature does not conclude until the beginning of 2025. The polls place the Labor Party as the clear favorite today.
