The President of the United States, Donald Trump, is reportedly considering reopening the US embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, within the context of a new political scenario and the appointment of Delcy Rodríguez as interim president.

The president stated: “We are considering opening the embassy in Caracas, and we have been asked to do so,” adding that “there are direct contacts with the new Venezuelan leadership.”

The reopening of the US diplomatic mission in Venezuela “is part of a broader process of reviewing bilateral relations, after years of diplomatic rupture between the two countries.”

He also stated that the measure “is part of a potential period of institutional stability, talks on infrastructure and the energy sector.”

Trump has insisted on the right of Venezuelans to peace, development, and to decide their future without interference.
