Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg participated in the launch last week of the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, which feature a digital display on the right lens, along with other products, such as the Oakley Vanguard glasses, designed for athletes.

The price of Meta’s new glasses, which will be available in stores on September 30, is expected to be $800, and they are part of the company’s plan to “extend the momentum of its Ray-Ban line, one of the first consumer successes of the artificial intelligence era.”

At the event, where the company’s CEO joked about some operational glitches, it was revealed that the small digital display on the right lens will offer basic functions such as notifications.

Zuckerberg has touted the smart glasses as the ideal device for superintelligence (a concept in which AI surpasses human intelligence in every possible way) because they serve as a personal, always-on interface that can see, hear, and interact with the world from the user’s perspective.
