The European Union has announced the inauguration of a new diplomatic office in San Francisco, in the state of California, in a clear commitment to digital cooperation with the United States.

“The opening of the office in San Francisco responds to the EU’s commitment to strengthen transatlantic technological cooperation and promote global digital transformation based on democratic values ​​and standards”, said the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell in a statement.

For the head of European diplomacy, this is a “concrete step to further strengthen the EU’s work on issues such as the fight against hybrid threats and the manipulation and disinformation of information.”

With this initiative, the bloc seeks to increase digital diplomacy cooperation with Washington and strengthen the EU’s capacity to reach the main public and private actors in the sector. In addition, you will use this office to promote European standards, governance models and policies.
