Those affected in Spain, Chile and Uruguay had already stated that when trying to enter the system they received the access-blocked warning.

The news was confirmed on Tuesday, although the attack apparently occurred over the weekend, which is a serious blow to the banking sector.

It was learned that the database hack compromised the security of its computer systems, although according to Banco Santander it did not compromise transactional information or access credentials or internet banking passwords.

Immediately, the bank activated security protocols, including blocking access to said database, and issued a statement reporting the incident and regretting the violation of the information contained on the platform.

This was announced in a statement by the telecommunications giant, ensuring that an “unauthorized access to the T-Mobile database was detected, but we have not determined that any personal data of the client has been violated.”

Hackers claimed to have extracted sensitive information for some 100 million customers from the telephone operator’s database. According to posts on Vice’s Motherboard, the seller offered “complete information on T-Mobile customers.”

The seller noted that he is privately selling most of the information, however, it will hand over a subset of data containing 30 million social security numbers and driver’s licenses in exchange for payment in BTC.

The data includes social security numbers, phone numbers, names, physical addresses, unique IMEI numbers, and driver’s license information and you are requesting 6 BTC which is equivalent to about $ 287,000.

T-Mobile has also been the victim of this type of cybersecurity scandal in other occasions. Last February the mobile company was sued by a victim who lost $ 450,000 in Bitcoin in a SIM swapping attack.

Other big US companies such as Facebook, Yahoo and Marriott have also been victims of cybercriminals, involving more than 100 million customers.

IBM published a database with 14 million samples as part of its Project CodeNet initiative, with which the company seeks to help train Artificial Intelligence (AI) mechanisms capable of programming code or translating it autonomously.

The use of a current technology such as AI in code programming seeks to modernize the sector and make it possible for machines to help in tasks currently performed by humans, such as cleaning, maintaining and updating code, as reported by the company in the framework of its event annual IBM Think 2021.

“The language of the machines is the code and, in the same way that we have advanced a lot in the processing of natural language as in the translators, we can teach the machines to program“, said the senior vice president and director of IBM Research, Darío Gil.

Now, the company publicly released Project CodeNet databases on the open GitHub platform, with 14 million data samples, 500 million lines of code in more than 55 different programming languages, from some modern ones like C++, Java, Python and Go to old ones like COBOL, Pascal and FORTRAN.

The use of this database aims to train new AI tools that are capable of programming code or translating it, overcoming current obstacles to this, such as contextual information, which makes the larger a program, the more difficult. it turns out to be translated for a machine.
