Google announced that the new update to its cryptocurrency advertising policies will allow ads with this content from January 29, 2024. Advertisers will be subject to the regulations in force in the United States.

Crypto advertising on Google, as confirmed by the company, is explicitly to promote Cryptocurrency Coin Trusts. “As a reminder, we expect all advertisers to comply with local laws in any area to which their ads target. This policy will apply globally to all accounts that advertise these products,” they stressed.

The change will allow crypto advertisers in the United States “as long as they meet specific criteria and obtain certification from Google.” If you do not comply with the law, a warning will be sent seven days before your accounts are suspended.

Ultimately, every advertiser must have a license issued by the local authority. Additionally, all “your products, landing pages, and ads must meet all local legal requirements of the country or region for which you wish to obtain certification.”

Regarding Cryptocurrency Coin Trusts, Google defines them as financial products that allow the trading of shares in “funds that have large funds of digital currencies. Probably including ETFs.”

Google allows advertising for some cryptocurrencies and associated products, but restrictions prevail in certain areas. “Advertisements of cryptocurrencies or staking platforms based on non-fungible tokens (NFTs), initial coin offerings (ICOs), decentralized financial protocols and trading signals services are not allowed.”

The policy change on Cryptocurrency Coin Trusts announcements comes as investors await approval of a wave of Bitcoin spot ETFs that could occur between January 5 and 10, 2024.
