Netflix and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) come together to develop strategies that promote the “Orange economy”, through the 21st century skills coalition for Latin America and the Caribbean, and thus improve education, increase job creation and growth.

The 21st Century Skills Coalition is a multi sectors alliance to underpin the creation of new education and training policies in the 26 borrowing member countries of the IDB. In this Coalition the public and private sectors of nations are brought together to work globally on the “development of transversal skills that are critical to success in the rapidly changing 21st century labor market.“

The US operator, Netflix, offers its experience and knowledge of the entertainment industry to identify the necessary skills to develop creative companies in the region, as well as the promotion and “development of skills in the film and entertainment industry.“

The president of the IDB, Mauricio Claver-Carone, celebrated the partnership with Netflix, highlighting the benefits of the agreement. “This partnership with Netflix will help young people in the region take advantage of new opportunities. Together, we can nurture the talent and creative potential of Latin America and the Caribbean, while giving workers the skills and tools of the 21st century to prosper and driving local economies.”

According to Claver-Carone, this agreement is part of the post-pandemic economic recovery plan for the region, whose vision for 2025 is “to support job creation, small businesses and the development of digital skills.”
