Microsoft prepares support for USB 4 on computers with Windows 11 and the automatic opening of Copilot with the boot of the operating system on computers with larger screens.

Microsoft will introduce support for the latest generation of the USB standard in an upcoming Windows 11 update, after enabling support for USB 80Gbps to developers participating in the Insider program.

Build 23615 of Windows 11, available for preview on the Dev channel, introduces support for USB 4, initially for computers with 14th-generation Intel Core HbX processors, presented at the latest CES 2024.

This USB standard is compatible with earlier versions of USB and Thunderbolt and supports USB Type-C features, as noted in a post on the Windows Insider blog.

The company also seeks to increase the prominence of its Copilot assistant, by automatically opening this service with the start of Windows on wide-screen computers.This is an option that users will be able to activate from the Customization section in the configuration menu.

And it has expanded the capabilities of the Share feature on Edge and other browsers, which now allow URLs to be directly compatible with WhatsApp, Gmail, X, Facebook and LinkedIn.

This app recently came to Apple’s app store, the App Store, where it is available for free for iOS and iPadOS devices. Users can leverage their skills to perform activities such as summarizing complex texts, translating multilingual content, writing emails, stories, scripts, creating personalized travel itineraries, and writing and updating resumes.

Microsoft stresses that Copilot is powered by the latest language models developed by OpenAI, such as DALL-E 3 and GPT-4, which offer fast, complex and accurate responses.

Now, Microsoft announced that Copilot will come to Windows 11 in update 23H2, which will be released next Tuesday, September 26. With this integration, the context and intelligence of the web, the users’ work data and the actions being carried out on the PC will be combined “in a unique way.”

In this way, the aim is to provide better assistance to the user in their tasks, with privacy and security “in the foreground“, as the company explained in a statement.

Specifically, Copilot is an assistant that introduces AI directly into the Windows operating system and makes tasks easier for users through a chat and different tools and functions. In fact, according to the company, it will be a “simple and fluid” experience that will be available in Windows 11, starting next week.

Thus, this assistant will be available in a sidebar so that the user can easily access its services. In addition, it will work as an application that appears simply by clicking the right mouse button.
