The document describes Venezuela’s electrical grid as “deteriorated and fragile after years of underinvestment and lack of maintenance.”

Data cited in the report indicates that Venezuela’s electricity generation capacity has fallen by more than 30 %, a situation that has a significant impact on “industrial production, oil activity, and the daily lives of millions of Venezuelans.”

Washington maintains that without a functional electrical grid, crude oil production cannot be recovered, “a key component of the agreement announced on January 6.”

The electrical system recovery plan includes “allowing the entry of equipment and spare parts—as well as specialized technical services—to address failures that have accumulated over the years.” This will create the minimum conditions for the country to increase its oil production and restore basic services.

The international organization announced the cooperation with TikTok, pointing out the importance of providing accurate data to the population in an increasingly digital world.

With this step, the WHO demonstrates its commitment to “take advantage of the various digital communication platforms to reach a greater number of people around the world, in order to promote basic health knowledge and healthy behaviors and actions in an increasingly digitalized world,” as published on its website.

In addition, it has stressed that social networks “can be important sources of information that influence decisions and behaviors related to health. One in four young adults actively seek out informative content on social media, including TikTok.”

The WHO-TikTok partnership seeks to minimize misinformation by “promoting evidence-based content and encouraging positive health dialogues.”

This cooperation is expected to serve as a turning point in the way digital platforms strengthen their social responsibility.

Dr. Jeremy Farrar, WHO’s chief scientist, said: “By collaborating with TikTok and other social media, we are contributing to access to credible information and participation in scientific discourse that collectively helps shape a healthier future for all people.”

The Central American country visited Japan to strengthen commercial ties. Vice President Stephan Brunner was accompanied by several ministers of the Costa Rican Executive in this meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in various areas.

Brunner held a working lunch in Tokyo on Thursday with the spokesperson and Chief Cabinet Secretary of the Japanese Executive, Yoshimasa Hayashi, “who highlighted that both countries share values and principles and expressed Japan’s will to continue strengthening ties on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of bilateral relations, which will be held in 2025.”

From Tokyo, they recognize Costa Rica as a country of great importance for cooperation and have defined it as a “peace-loving, defender of free trade and leader in environmental matters” nation.

In this sense, Hayashi stressed that it is of great relevance to “maintain and expand a free, fair and rules-based economic order,” and called for “strengthening cooperation to guarantee economic resilience and economic security.”

Regarding the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), he highlighted its strategic significance in reinforcing a free and fair international economic order. THE accession of Costa Rica would generate benefits for both regions in economic and commercial matters, but also in technology, telecommunications, energy, among others, in addition to boosting investments in the two countries.
