Currently, only developers of payment applications, who according to the platform are only 3 % of the total, have to pay a commission, of 30 %, for their earnings on Google Play. In March of this year, the commission was reduced to 15 % after 12 months of recurring subscription.

Now, Google highlighted in a statement that its commissions will be reduced to 15 % for all Google Play developers as of January 1st of next year 2022.

The company explained that developers with subscription models find it difficult to benefit from the previous downgrade due to customer churn, so it has decided to make it widespread from day one.

In the cases of multiplatform application developers, who already had reduced service fees of 15 % Google Play, this commission will drop to 10 %.

This was denounced by a group of United States prosecutors, who initiated an investigation against the search engine for monopoly practices in its online store, of which they have presented the first documents.

According to the investigation documents, Google’s offer took place in response to attempts by some of the main applications, such as Netflix, Spotify and Tinder, to prepare a payment system outside the platform.

To avoid the discontent of the streaming platform for the Play Store commissions for internal payments, which is 30 %, Google would have offered the app a special discount in the share of benefits for payments, something that according to the accusation would be a monopoly practice.

Likewise, the court documents point to the existence of internal Google figures that indicate that the equilibrium level for the distribution of income would be around 6 % of commissions.

The prosecution’s arguments also claim that, while Samsung’s software revenue was $ 100 million in 2019, Google Play earned $ 4 billion from the South Korean brand’s terminals alone this year.

Until now, the institution offered in its almost 70,000 POS the recharge of Movistar, Digitel and Inter and the sealing of the pictures of the 5 and 6 of the National Institute of Hipódromos. Interbank, through the Bancamiga Points of Sale.
